NEW WINGS THERAPY
Parent Consultation
“The greatest gift you can give your child is to understand them.”
- Alfred Adler

Play therapy is most effective when children feel supported not only in the therapy room, but at home as well. Parent consultations are an important part of the process, offering a space for caregivers to feel supported, informed, and empowered. These consultations are typically held every six weeks to support the ongoing therapeutic process.
Regular parent sessions provide an opportunity to:
-
Share insights into your child’s emotional world and developmental needs
-
Discuss themes emerging in play therapy (in a way that respects your child’s privacy and sense of safety)
-
Explore practical strategies to support your child at home
-
Strengthen your confidence in responding to your child’s feelings and behaviours
-
Reflect on progress and adjust goals as needed
These sessions are collaborative and tailored to your family’s needs. They recognise that parents and caregivers play a central role in a child’s healing, growth, and sense of security.
You don’t need to have all the answers — this is a space to ask questions, feel supported, and deepen your understanding of your child. Together, we work towards creating a consistent, nurturing environment that supports your child’s wellbeing both inside and outside the therapy room.
